Brief & response
What is the role of creativity & innovation in a Graphic Design problem? From initial workshops, develop an idea & an area of study to focus on, to research and to produce a finished artefact.
I was interested in how animals have inspired design - for example hummingbirds hovering in place inspired helicopter technology. For this project I took inspiration from how some animals can see much better than humans in the dark & wanted to explore how design could improve our experience in the dark. Created a concept for a new cinema experience - 'Phaos' Cinema. Designed tickets where the information changed from in the light, to when you go into the dark screen to show up only the information you need to know. This is easily seen in the dark with a 'glow in the dark' ink. Then used this idea through to the food packaging with drink cups that in the dark have finger prints to show where to pick up the drink, straws light up on the tips and the rim of the cup is lit up so you can see where to drink from. Similarly with the Nachos box, the dip area has a lit up circle around to show where to dip, and strips for around where the nachos are held.
Also designed a row lettering & seat numbering system that's easy to see from above & in-front.
